Learning Objectives

After completing this training the professional will be able to:

• Describe the Schema Mode Model and conceptual background of the 'Mode' Model and 'parts' in Schema Therapy for complex cases.
• Summarize conceptualisation and treatment of Complex Cases, especially Cluster B (e.g. Borderline, Anti- social), and C (e.g. Avoidant, OCPD, Dependant) personality disorder presentations.
• Demonstrate awareness and fluency of Schema Mode descriptions.
• Explain assessment of Schema Modes, and demonstrate skills in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the Schema Mode Inventory.
• Demonstrate skills in assessment, conceptualisation and formulation using the schema mode model, including the ability to generate 'Schema Mode Maps' with clients.
• Describe skills in Cognitive Change approaches with rigid presentations.
• Improve skills in the application of Behavioural-pattern breaking techniques within the Schema Mode Model.
• Demonstrate increased confidence and competency in the use of experiential change approaches including Imagery Rescripting and Chairwork dialogues with 'Modes' or 'Parts'.
• Demonstrate skills and confidence in the application of Limited Reparenting and using the therapy relationship as a vehicle for positive change and 'schema healing',
• Demonstrate a deeper understanding and awareness of the impact of therapist schemas and modes on the therapy relationship and treatment of complex cases, including our own reactions.
• Apply knowledge from this course to practice and/or other professional contexts.

Dr Robert Nicholas Brockman Robert is a clinical psychologist and researcher living and working out of Sydney, Australia. Rob has extensive experience lecturing and supervising on Clinical Psychology Masters programs (Western Sydney University; University of Technology) and was a full-time Research Fellow (Psychology) from 2017-2020 (Australian Catholic University). Since 2014, Rob has regularly provided Schema Therapy Training events across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and South-East Asia, and has trained over 2000 therapists in the schema therapy approach. In 2018 Rob co-authored a new schema therapy book Contextual Schema Therapy, and is lead author of the upcoming release \"Cambridge Guide to Schema Therapy\", due for publication early 2022.

Chris is a Clinical Psychologist and Advanced Schema Therapist based in Western Australia. He has had extensive experience in both government and private settings working with clients with complex psychological presentations. Since 2005, he has been practising as an Advanced Schema Therapist, supervisor and trainer, having completed certification in Schema Therapy at the Schema Therapy Institute in New York City (USA) with Dr Jeffery Young. He has presented workshops throughout Europe, Asia and Australia, and is the Director of Schema Therapy Training Australia. In addition to the provision of Schema Therapy training and supervision, he is currently employed with the Health Department of Western Australia as a Senior Clinical Psychologist (within a specialist service working with those who have experienced recent or childhood sexual trauma). He has written extensively in schema therapy and co-produced 2 DVD/ video releases, \"Fine Tuning Imagery Rescripting\" and \"Fine Tuning Chair Work in Schema Therapy\" (the first of their kind internationally). He has previously served as Board Secretary for the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST). He is also co-author of the upcoming release \"Cambridge Guide to Schema Therapy\", set to be released in 2022.
